How to make Turkish coffee?
Turkish coffee ingredients are:
- very fine ground coffee: a teaspoon per cup
- water: 2 to 3 ounces per cup
- sugar to taste
To make Turkish coffee, put the water in the cezve or a small pot, add sugar to taste and mix well to dissolve it in the water. It is an optional ingredient if you don’t like sweet coffee don’t use it.
Add one teaspoon of ground coffee per person and heat the coffee-water mixture while stirring. It should not boil, as this changes the taste of the coffee and makes the foam disappear.
Put a spoonful of cold water, let it sit for a minute, and serve in your cups: this will help the grounded coffee sink to the bottom of the pot.
The best way to make Turkish coffee is in a cevze. This brass or copper coffee pot with a long handle is designed to help trap the coffee at the bottom of the pot so that you enjoy your homemade Turkish coffee free of coffee grounds!
