If the Nespresso doesn’t start, check that:
- The capsule or pod is properly inserted.
- The handle is locked in the closed position
If you were performing an operation of descaling, cleaning, or emptying the Nespresso system:
- Verify that there is no pod or capsule in the machine.
- Close and lock in position the handle.
- Press the button to continue your operation.

- While performing a special operation (empty the system, cleaning, descaling): verify that the coffee capsule has been ejected and that the machine head is locked (position of the handle).
- While Programming volume: check that no coffee capsule is present.
If Nespresso Vertuo Next continues flashing, reset the machine by:
- Opening the head and replacing the coffee capsule
- Disconnecting the electric plug and waiting 10 seconds to re-plug the machine
- Closing the head, turning the Nespresso ON, and starting a coffee.
Nespresso Vertuo Next blinking while not running
If the Nespresso Vertuo Next is flashing and not running, the meaning depends on the operation you are performing.
If you started a coffee: it can take a few seconds before the coffee starts flowing, all the while the Nespresso flashing is normal. If it lasts, check the water tank, the coffee capsule (is it well inserted?) and verify the handle is locked. If all is good push the start button.
If it persists, it could be the machine is overheating after a lot of coffees. To let it cool down, put the Nespresso in “OFF mode”: push 3 seconds the button, let go and push the button again to start the machine. Wait twenty minutes before using it again.
If you can’t go in the “OFF mode”, you probably are stuck in descaling: to exit press for a minimum of 7 seconds the button.
